Sometimes this house is so thick with sadness and depression it's hard to even get around. It's easier to stay in the recliner where it is safe. I hate feeling like there is little to look forward to. Halloween came and went with very little attention. It's the kids that made the difference. Who knew? I used to think they were holding me back and now I realize they were holding me up. Some parts of life are slower than others. Sometimes it seems as if we spend 99% waiting for something. Not the part with the kids in it. That whizzes by. I miss them bothering me. I miss their messes. I miss their kisses.

"One evening an old Cherokee told his grandson about a battle that goes on inside people.
He said: 'My son, the battle is between 'two wolves' inside us all.
One is Evil. It is anger, envy, jealousy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego.
The other is Good. It is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion, and faith'
The grandson thought about it for a minute, and then asked his grandfather: 'Which wolf wins?'
The old Cherokee simply replied: 'The one you feed.'"

[Socknitters] Digest Number 10487 - Inbox - Yahoo! Mail: "If you can find an ankle sock pattern then do the following: Cast on
something like 4X the stitches needed. Knit 1 or 2 rows plain, then
K2tog, K2 around. Knit 1-2 plain rows, then K2tog, K1 around, knit
another row or two plain then K2tog around. That should give you a nice
ruffle and leave you at the right stitch count for your ankle sock.

Stumbling Over Chaos :: Enough with this Monday stuff (now with dishcloth pattern!)
Stumbling Over Chaos :: Enough with this Monday stuff (now with dishcloth pattern!): "Row 1 (wrong side): P1, *purl the second stitch on the needle, purl the first stitch on the needle, slide both stitches off the needle*, P1
Row 2 (right side): *pass the right-hand needle behind the first stitch to knit the second stitch on the needle, knit the first stitch “in the usual way,” slip both stitches off the needle* (On Row 2, make sure you get both stitches off the needle! I had trouble with that if I wasn’t paying close attention.)
Knit until you like the size, then bind off. I’m still experimenting with bind offs. Whatever you do, don’t bind off in pattern! You’ll end up with a very wide bind off row. Trust me on that one."
This was not my pattern just throwing it out there so you could try it if you wanted. It doesn[t look too hard and is pretty with lots of colors.

"There's an old sea story in the Navy about a ship's Captain who inspected his sailors, and afterward told the Chief Boson's Mate that his men smelled bad.** *
* **The Captain suggested perhaps it would help if the sailors would change underwear occasionally. *
* ** The Chief responded, 'Aye, aye sir, I'll see to it immediately!'
*
* The Chief went straight to the sailors berth deck and announced, 'The Captain thinks you guys smell bad and wants you to change your underwear. *
*
*
* 'Pittman, you change with Jones; McCarthy, you change with Witkowski; and Brown, you change with Schultz. Now get to it!!!' *
*

*
* **Someone may be promising 'Change' in Washington ; but don't count on things smelling any better! *"

thank you God!!!
WE now know some of the things Phil does not have and they are all things we didn't want. Sometimes that is how it works. You don't know what it is so you start eliminating. We are now pretty sure we know what it's not ie, The big C or Lyme's disease. We will keep working til we know what it is. At least we can rest tonight without the big one hanging over us.

"teacher was doing a study testing the senses (taste)
The children began to identify the flavors by their color:
Red.....................Cherry
Yellow.................Lemon
Green...................Lime
Orange...............Orange
Finally the teacher gave them all HONEY lifesavers. None
of the children could identify the taste.
The teacher said, ' I will give you all a clue. It ' s what your
mother may sometimes call your father. '
One little girl looked up in horror, spit her lifesaver out and
yelled, ' Oh my God! They ' re butt-holes!
The teacher had to leave the room!

So while McCreary may have lost his job, he is finding peace of mind.

history of knitting
history of knitting: "Evidence of the earliest knitting, using two needles, is believed to come from Egypt in the eleventh century, where more knitted socks were found.
But from there we jump to thirteenth and fourteenth century Europe, particularly France, Germany and Britain. The painting, The Visit of the Angels, circa 1390, by the German painter, Master Bertram, depicts the Madonna knitting in the round."

"newborns conversation with God
A baby asked God, 'They tell me you are sending me to earth tomorrow, but how am I going to live there being so small and helpless?' God said, 'Your angel will be waiting for you and will take care of you.'
The child further inquired, 'But tell me, here in heaven I don't have to do anything but sing and smile to be happy.' God said, 'Your angel will sing for you and will also smile for you. And you will feel your angel's love and be very happy.'
Again the child asked, 'And how am I going to be able to understand when people talk to me if I don't know the language?' God said, 'Your angel will tell you the most beautiful and sweet words you will ever hear, and with much patience and care, your angel will teach you how to speak.'
'And what am I going to do when I want to talk to you?' God said, 'Your angel will place your hands together and will teach you how to pray.'
'Who will protect me?' God said, 'Your angel will defend you even if it means risking its life.'
'But I will always be sad because I will not see you anymore.' God said, 'Your angel will always talk to you about Me and will teach you the way to come back to Me, even though I will always be next to you.'
At that moment there was much peace in Heaven, but voices from Earth could be heard and the child hurriedly asked, 'God, if I am to leave now, please tell me my angel's name.'
God said, 'You will simply call her, 'Mom.'"

Life is short. I am feeling old age closing in on my body and it is really pissing me off. In my mind I am 25ish. I am still waking up eager to go and , if I can get my body to keep up, I can still accomplish astonishing things. I create , I write, I love. I continue to look forward because I am not yet convinced that I can't do everything I ever could. Show me. Prove it.
